Friday Musings

This is a blog about a lot of things such as health, projects, foods with lower calories and foods with not so low calories .

and anything else that runs through my head.

If you are watching calories you can substitute equal parts of unsweetened applesauce for vegetable oil in recipes (including boxed cakes and brownies.) This creates a no-fat alternative to the oil, and enhances the moisture of the product.

Use applesauce

If you want less calories. no oil

Do You Crave Chocolate?
Buy a bottle of chocolate flavoring. Add 2 to 4 drops to your cup of warm milk and a little sweetener. Lo and behold, hot chocolate! And your craving is satisified at the fraction of the calories.

To keep pasta sauce(alfredo or tomato) on hand in small amounts for the kids, I freeze it  in ice cube trays. Once frozen, I transfer it into a freezer bag. Two cubes is the perfect amount for 1 cup (dry)
of pasta, and I don't have to remember when I opened the jar in the fridge or waste it.

I really hope you guys had a safe Fourth of July

I was ironing this morning and I noticed I iron faster when I play music and it didn't seem as bad.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
